A bit of history and geography …
In the VIII and VII century before the Christian era, the Greek sailors of Corinth often came to anchor in the coves of our rocky coast. The Canigou, emblematic mountain of our department and easy landmark of 2784 m guided them in their anchorage. During their temporary colonization, they installed the vine.
Over the centuries, vineyards expand or regress according to political, economic, phytosanitary circumstances.
The Agly Valley is located in the north of the Pyrenees-Orientales between the Massif des Corbières and the Pyrenees. It is the land of election of the first men who settled at 450,000 years before our era. It is a land of contrasts combining the red ocher colors of the clays, the whiteness of the limestones and the black shales. Land of freedom and escape, like the Bonelli eagle, between Catalan and Occitan culture, between tramontana and sun, the Valley of the Agly harmoniously blends space and diversity of landscapes.
Moreover, the vine growers have adapted the choice of their grape varieties, their methods of cultivation and their methods of winemaking to this diversity by creating a whole range of wines. Rooted in a generous soil, the Valley of Agly combines all the perfect conditions to offer excellent wines to wine lovers.
